How to Prepare for a motion capture Session? |
Preparation:
- The most important thing is that you have a good overview of what
it is that you want to capture.
- Make a detailed shooting list that includes all the actions that
you need.
- Make notes about the interactions the actor has with other objects
in the environment so that props can be placed and used during the motion
capture recordings.
- Make a list of motions you want to loop (walking cycle, running cycle
etc).
- Print maps of your 3D environment for reference.
- Choose an actor that has characteristic style and movement corresponding
to those of your character and project. It is of no use bringing in
a Shakespearean-actor for football motion capture or the other way around.
The shoot:
- Our studio has all the technical equipment needed for your production,
and it will be ready for operation on the shooting day(s).
- If you bring with you your 3D character, we can arrange real-time
visualization during the motion capture sessions, for better reference
and immediate feedback from live motion to virtual one.
- Make sure you have an as-clear-as possible picture of the environment
in which your 3D character is going to be in.
- If there are interactions between two or more performers, or with
any props, plan floor-markings and props positions, which would help
getting best results from the live performers and later, in the virtual
environment.
