A high quality Motion Capture Project for
the X-Box Racing Game "QUANTUM REDSHIFT" ordered by British
CurlyMonsters. The project included the motion capture for 16 characters
- eight females and eight-males...This production was the first to utilize
MOTEK's simulation capabilities, which include MOTEK's D-Flow software
and a 6 degrees of freedom motion platform, specially designed for MOTEK.
These capabilities are driven from MOTEK's medical CAREN system and give
the ability to easily simulated different environments and scenes. In
this particular production, a special motorcycle/spaceship was involved,
creating a need for realistic simulation in order to get realistic body
movement and compensation motion data. MOTEK overcame this challenge by
building and fixing to the motion platform a motorcycle shape construction.
Using D-Flow, the director manipulated the movement of the motion platform,
simulating different road conditions, simply by moving a computer mouse.
In the meantime, the motion of the actor and the platform was captured,
resulting high quality and realistic, motion capture data. To complete
customer requirements a second operator used a pair of Cyber Gloves to
generate finger motion data.
