Dutch Firm Puts Motion Capture On the Web

Here's a new business model : warehouse over 1.5 terabytes of professional level motion capture data and make it available to mainstream animators who couldn't afford it-on a fee-for-service basis.

That's what they're doing at MOTEK^tm Motion Technology founded 1993 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. They call their web-based offering StockMoves^tm, and they project that they can charge as little as a tenth of conventional pricing for motion data captured for animation and motion picture effects projects over the previous eight years.

They add value via additional, custom motion manipulation, so that pre-captured, image-derived motion can be applied in modified new ways. MOTEK received new venture capital backing in August that will support these and related efforts in medical motion visualization and choreography capture.
