A CAREN system has been set up in Quebec-city
and is since then being used for research. The research is done by
dr. Carol Richards, Dr. Brad McFaydon and Dr. Francine Malouin. Dr.
Carol Richards has been involved in the study of movement as a therapeutic
tool to enhance human health, and is also holder of a Canada Research
Chair in Rehabilitation. Dr. Bradford McFadyen is a specialist working
within the CIRRIS on the study of locomotor adaptations, particularly
anticipatory adjustments, for environmental constraints. His research
looks specifically at locomotor strategies used for obstacle avoidance
and surface accommodation (changes in surface level and type) in both
healthy and pathological populations. Dr. Francine Malouin is a specialist
in neurorehabilitation, and is particularly interested in the link
between motor imagery ability and cognitive function and the use of
mental practice to improve the learning of motor skills. Technical
support and supervision is done by: Francois Comeau, Sébastien
Chapdelaine.
